BBC Look North filming

The team really enjoyed filming our services with Luke Walton from BBC Look North and our customers Pink Lane Bakery and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Enjoy from minute 19:30:

Good medicine….

Our riders have now completed 6000 medical home deliveries for Newcastle Hospitals across Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside. They’ve pedalled 6200 miles (Newcastle to Tokyo equivalent) since the autumn, avoiding the emission of 2.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent and 6 kilogrammes of nitrous oxide (when compared with combustion-engined cars/vans) in doing so. We think this is the cleanest way to locally deliver pharmaceuticals at scale, with ZMOVE’s skilled riders and lightweight cargo bikes navigating city and suburban streets quickly and quietly daily, each making up to 60 deliveries in one long ride. This example shows the climate emergency contribution ultra low emission compact logistics can make, showing the UK can responsibly transition much lightweight last mile freight away from it’s 55 billion annual van miles at speed, reducing carbon consumption and urban air pollution. Why aren’t we doing more?

ZMOVErs needed!

With the rider/driver team now at 13 staff, we’ve two specific additional operational roles to cover:

Two part-time (17-20 weekly hrs) permanent EV delivery “driver” roles primarily supporting a Gateshead multi-drop parcel client and driving a small Paxster electric vehicle. Full driving licence needed. Primarily based at Team Valley.

Flexible rider (and driver) roles primarily supporting our Newcastle clients, including Newcastle Hospitals and Pink Lane Bakery. Mid-week availability a must!

Do express your interest in either type of role here by Wednesday 2nd June: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScl8lYyhz4hD5gyyDd9EPD4RZ-bA2TFk1VR-gvjVjD5Ae8WFw/viewform…

Huge thanks to amazing customers (including The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustCake StoriesPink Lane BakeryFood and Drink North EastDurham Markets Company Limited) for helping us learn and demonstrate what low carbon logistics can achieve.

2020 – done!

The team completed their last deliveries of the year during a very cold, icy Newcastle week. ZMOVE has grown and evolved this year, responding to our customers changing needs. The operations team piloted three electric cargo bikes and a range of other EVs to complete over 12,000 low carbon deliveries across north-east England through the year. We’ll be back on Saturday January 2nd to start the 2021 mission.

Home healthcare deliveries

Following a successful October trial, we’re delighted to be supporting Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s home healthcare delivery service, for low carbon, high speed daily multi-drop runs. Our healthcare riders are loving this important work!

Durham Market Hall collaboration

We’re thrilled to be supporting Durham Market Hall’s new online shop, giving local Durham residents a home delivery option from market traders. This is also our first software collaboration, with customer orders flowing straight through in to our routing software, enabling faster, more accurate home delivery.

Coming home…

Such a thrill to contribute to Food and Drink North East‘s first campaign film. What a glorious showcase for the best of our region’s food producers. We believe wholeheartedly in supporting enterprises than enable short food mile chains. Our rider Duncan certainly doesn’t regret that very early start…
